After kilning the sawn pieces are graded at the dry sorting plant according to the quality to respective bins. Grading plants are robust and effective, but it is important that the pieces are handled with care.
The quality evolves along the process and once the piece has been kilned the final grade cannot be improved. Only end trimming is possible at the final grading.
Final quality grading is nowadays done by using automatic camera graders.
